Our "Powder Puff"

This past week we received a phone call from a girl that goes to school with Brock. I wasn't home and Kyle spoke to her, but was a little confused about the conversation because he said she talked so fast that he couldn't understand what she was talking about. All he got out of the conversation was "powder puff" and kidnapping Brock Friday at 5:00 am for Breakfast. So Friday morning at 5:00 am the doorbell rang and 4 girls were there to go wake up Brock. They even brought their squirt bottles which I told them was smart because Brock is hard to wake up and we have to use a squirt bottle at time to wake him up. I followed behind them to his room (We had warned Austin ahead of time what was to happen so that he was somewhat decent with what he wore to bed we were just hoping Brock was also) Anyways they entered his room and woke him up with the squirt bottle and he said "What are you guys doing here?" They said "You have 5 minutes to get dressed and we will be leaving" He said "Are you Kidding me?" It was funny. They waited in our living room and 5 minutes later he came up dazed and left with them. Kyle and I discussed that we should have girls come over more often to wake him up because it NEVER takes him 5 minutes to get ready...we are always waiting for him on Sundays, etc. Even Cassidy takes less time.
The girls were cheerleaders and they each picked a boy to take to breakfast at one of the girls homes. He had to wear the sign around his neck the whole school day. Brock was picked by "Petra" and starting Monday he has dance pratice to learn a routine that he and the other boys, including a lot of his friends will be performing at the school in two weeks. Cassidy and I are planning on taping it so we will keep you posted.

Family Trip to the Temple

Tuesday morning we left to attend the Draper Temple open house as a family. At first there were not very positive attitudes about getting up early on a "no school" day from some, but once we got going and especially once we got there attitudes changed. I even tried talking myself out of going just because I have had so much to do, but I am so glad I made the time to go because what I got out of it was worth so much more. I was teary eyed most of the time throughout the temple especially in the celestial room where I was with Kyle and ALL 6 kids...I just kept telling myself..."it doesn't get any better than this" and "this is what it is all about" Kaelyn loved the baptismal font and we had to hold her back from going down the stairs into the water. She also loved the lights especially the ones in the Celestial room as she thought they were "diamonds." I explained about the rooms as we entered them to the kids and I know they were probably sick of my telling them how lucky I thought they were that they were able to be inside the temple and to go through these very special rooms. The boys thought it was cool where the materials were from and we even had a quiz at the end to see who remembered what. Another special part was when we were able to go into the sealing room and it was just our family and two others...they closed the doors and had a man take a few minutes to speak to us about the sealing rooms and then let us look through the everlasting mirrors. It was neat being able to sit in there and look around with family. The kids thought that was neat. It was fun to also share with them that because Kyle and I were sealed in one of those rooms at the Salt Lake Temple we could be together forever as a family. Stockton loved the bus ride up to the temple and kept saying "this is so cool" (he must of forgotten our trips to Disneyland and the surrounding people must of thought that this kid doesn't get out much). The kids also enjoyed the refreshments and I had to hold back the little boys from getting thirds and fourths.

It was nice to get out our messy life that we are experiencing right now and have the opportunity of going to the temple for some comfort and peace. It was a great day, one that we will remember forever.

First Lost Tooth

For about 6 months Kaelyn has been obsessed about when she will lose a tooth...she has seen her brothers and sister lose teeth and has been very curious about it. Well a couple of months ago I took her to the dentist for her checkup and the Dentist said she had 2 teeth that were loose on the bottom...She was so excited! She has been keeping an eye on them. Well today one of them came out while she was trying to open something with her teeth..she came running up to me with blood running out of her mouth all excited...After we got her cleaned up we had to look for the tooth as it had fallen out into a container of barbie shoes. She can't wait for the tooth fairy to come tonight.

"Responsible Student of the Month"

Things haven't been very good lately as Kyle lost his job and we are trying to be hopeful, but it made my day to find out Ryan was chosen as "Responsible Student of the Month" of his class. He was so excited and he got several "treats", his picture with a write up from his teacher in the front of the school. His teacher wrote this about him: "Ryan is very responsible. He always brings his work to and from school. He has papers signed and is always timely. He makes sure his work is done on time and correctly. When asked to peer tutor others he is always willing to help and does a great job. Ryan is a true asset to my class."

Ryan is a very kind hearted person who is always willing to help others. We are very proud of him as well as all the kids...they had great report cards with good remarks and we couldn't be prouder. I feel very thankful to have such smart, successful kids.

Voting

I am not very fond of Politics but I do know how important it is to vote and they we have the privilege of voting. My kids have been way into this election and wanting to know who Kyle and I were going to vote for..I think a lot is due to all the publicity that has gone on with this election and they have been talking a lot about it at school and some the issues in church. It has given us the opportunity as a family to talk about different topics.

Kyle and I had the opportunity to vote early and I am so glad. As soon as we got home Ryan and Stockton wanted to know who we voted for...they also asked before we left who we were going to vote for.

Stockton came home from school yesterday explaining how the election worked and how a President could serve 2 terms etc. He is like a sponge and remembers so much of what he is taught...I was very impressed with his knowledge as a 3rd grader on the subject.
